Within our human body, we have many defences that protect us from viruses and microbes. One of our defences is our white blood cell.
The names of the white blood cells are as follows: Phagocytes and monocytes.
Another one of our defences is our skin. Our skin acts as a barrier to prevent microbes and bacteria from entering our body. Microbes and bacteria can only enter our body if our skin is "broken" such as having a cut.
Did you know that tears and mucus are also part of our defence system? They contain an enzyme that helps break down the cell wall of many bacteria. Those that are not killed instantly are trapped and consumed by the mucus.
You can prevent yourself from getting sick at all by getting a vaccination early on in your life. Vaccinations are weakened bacteria that is injected into your body, allowing your body to develop a response to the virus and build up immunity.
