Joan was a peasant girl who lived in a religious time and was born in 1412. When Joan turned 13 she started getting visions and hearing voices and claimed it was from God.

When Joan turned 17 she was determined to go out and find Charles. It was dangerous for a woman to go alone on a journey so she disguised herself as a man.

Joan's first challenge was to free the city of Orleans. Joan had a full suit of armor but no sword and God told her to look in the nearest church for a sword, and there was a sword behind the alter.there was a sword! On May 4, 1429 Joan led her army into battle for the first time.

At 5 Pm Joan launched a surprise attack. When the English realized the French were attacking the English closed the gates into the city. When the gates to the city were closed Joan was trapped outside the town and was captured.
Joan was put on trial for witchcraft, heresy, and spreading beliefs that violate religious beliefs. The court made 70 different accusations against Joan. Joan was burned on the stake on May 30, 1431.

In 1455 Joan's family reopened her case and she was found not guilty. A few hundred years later The Roman Catholic Church realized their wrong-doing. In 1912 Joan was reconized as a Cath olic saint.
I am so sad my baby girl Joan is dead! But at least I know she is innocent
