Storyboard Text

  • Scout can read
  • " I read the alphabet a faint line appeared between her eyebrows, and after making me read most of My First Reader...she discovered that I was literate and looked at me with more than faint distaste." (Page 17).
  • A, B, C, D...
  • Dramatic / Innocent
  • "I told Calpurnia to just wait, I'd fix her: one of these days when she wasn't looking Id go off and drown myself in Barker's Eddy and then she'd be sorry." (page 25).
  • Don't make fun of him!
  • Scout Cares about her brother's saftey
  • Then I'm goin' with you-
  • " "Jem grabbed my pajama collar and wrenched it tight. "Then I'm goin' with you-" I choked." (page 56).
  • This shows that Scout is smart. She is much for advanced than her other classmates. She is able to read and write, and she loves doing both, so it shows a lot about her personality
  • Respectful to her dad
  • Coward!
  • This quote is showing how Scout can be dramatic. Of course she would not go and drown herself because that would mean she would of course die. It also shows some innocence. It shows that because she is too young to understand what drowning herself would really do.
  • Vioent
  • "This time, I split my knuckle to the bone of his front teeth. My left impaired, I sailed in with my right, but not for long." (page84).
  • Scout has lots of love for her brother, and even though they get in fights, she cares a lot about his well being. This quote shows how much she cares, because she was willing to face her biggest fear so he wouldn't get harmed.
  • Scared
  • Scout is respectful to her father. She can be a violent person, but if her father is not in favor of her doing something she tries to respect his wishes. She looks up to him, so she is willing to make some sacrfices for him.
  • "It was the first time I walked away from a fight. Somehow, if I fought Cecil I would let Atticus down. Atticus so rarely asked Jem and me to do something for him, I could take being called a coward for him." (page 77).
  • This shows that Scout is a very violent person. When someone is being rude, or is doing something she really doesn't like, she never thinks about asking them to stop. Most of the time she does an action before thinking it through.
  • Scout is not the bravest of people out there. Even though a house can't hurt her, she decides to run by it just in case. She doesn't think very realistically, because in reality a person is not going to harm you for walking past their house.
  • ...I ran by the Radley place as fast as I could, not stopping until I reached the safety of our front porch". (page 33).
