13 year old Maria and 9 year old Jose are journeying across the land, trying to get to the U.S. from Mexico.
They are all alone and face many challenges, such as border patrol, who will deport them back to Mexico if they are caught. There are over 21,000 border patrol agents in the U.S.
If they get deported, then they have to go back to their home town, which has gang fights and if very dangerous.
They hope that in America their lives will be better and they will live a good life, rather than always being in danger. Lots of people are immigrants, and 43.3 million people immigrated in 2015.
Out of the 43.3 million, 1.38 million people moved to the U.S. A solution to the immigration issue, where many people are turned away from the United States, would be to let the children that are not likely to survive on their own into the U.S. so they have a better chance.
If people took action and helped children like Maria and Jose, they would prosper and be happy, and wouldn't have to worry about their children growing up in danger.
