and my name is Kaa and together we are going to teach you all about geothermal energy.
Hi, my name is Squirt
Geothermal Energy is a type of energy that is generated by water heating molten rock in the Earth's Core that rises to the surface as hot water or steam.
Once that water rises to the surface, it's heat is hot enough to keep homes and other buildings. Not hot enough to generate electrical energy.
Areas with volcanic activity have geothermal sources hot enough to generate electrical energy.
Geothermal Energy has a lot of Pros.
One of these Pros is that they are environmentally friendly as it doesn't pollute the environment. So animals like me are not affected!!
Geothermal reservoirs are naturally replenished and therefore renewable.
Smallest carbon footprint of any heating or cooling source.
But with these pros comes cons. Geothermal Energy is dependent on the water that it's heated by. These plants can use a significant amount of water.
Electricity is still needed to operate these pumps. So it can be costly.
