  • Scene 1Setting: The ship St. Gabriel
  • Scene 2Setting: The city-state of Mozambique
  • Scene 3Setting: Calicut
  • Cast: Vasco da Gama and crew of the St. Gabriel.Just weeks after Vasco da embarked on his first voyage his crew members are developing scurvy. His men are very ill and he gives the command to his second to drop the anchor so repairs can be made and the crew can recover.
  • Scene 4Setting: Calicut Harbor storage room
  • Cast: Vasco da Gama, Guardsmen, Second in command, the Sultan and the Sultan's advisor.Not too long after Vasco and his men reached the city-state of Mozambique and he immediately went to the Sultan to ask if he could stay for a month. As the Sultan was thinking he gave him gifts hoping to bribe the Sultan because he was in a dire position. The Sultan displeased tells them to leave and Vasco complies then leaves as told, this made him furious.
  • Scene 5Setting: The Ship St. Gabriel
  • Cast: Vaso Da Gama and The leader of Calicut.When Vaco arrived he did not know the population of Calicut was completely Hindu. He actually have never heard of the religion due to his iggornance of the area and lack of experience. The leader allowed him to stay for as long as needed and embraced them.
  • Cast: Vasco Da Gama and the leader of Calicut.Three months later Vasco was preparing to leave but he had to trade supplies from local traders so he could survive the trip back to Portugal. Hetried to bargain with the traders who wanted merely to swindle him but in the end he had to bargain. The Calicut leader saw him before he left in the port stock cellar to ensure he had all needed for the trip back.
  • Cast: Vasco Da GamaVasco Da Gama had been sailing for about a year now and he was thinking about if he had achieved anything from his voyage. He said to himself that he had achieved nothing but how to do better next time. He was very upset but eager to do more voyages hoping success would eventually come to him.
