Grendel's mother, devasted with the kill of her son, returns to the mead hall leaving with the king's close friend and her son's arm.
The Battle with Grendel's Mother
Beowulf is given Hrothgar's sword, Hrunting, and gets to the bottom with Grendel's mother and the fight begins immediatly!
Beowulf spots a gigantic sword on the wall of the cave. The sword was so heavy no ordinary man could lift it, but Beowulf is no ordinary man. Beowulf uses the sword with all his might and kills Grendel's mother.
King Hrothgar is sadened and Beowulf offers to go kill the mighty water witch. So Hrothgar leads the Danes and Geats, with Beowulf by his side.
Like Grendel, his mother can not be harmed with a normal sword. Beowulf drops his sword willing to fight with his hands almost getting hurt by her dagger, but his mail shirt saves him!
Beowulf finds the spot where Grendel is and cuts off his head as a trophy for Herot.
