The Story of Buddha (Siddartha Gautama)

Storyboard Text

  • A young man and his family live in this palace. A young man with the name of Siddhartha Gautama.
  • Siddhartha grew up very wealthy, so he grew up in the lap of luxury. He saw nothing but the good things in life.
  • Until one day, he was shown the "four sights". Just after three, he was convinced he had to leave.
  • He needed to find a way to rid the world of suffering.
  • After renouncing his wealth, leaving his newborn son, shaving his head, and putting on a coarse robe
  • Buddha left with a monk to start his journy.
  • He underwent six years of extreme self-denial techniques:
  • Nakedness, exposure to great heat and cold, breath retentions, a bed of brambles, and severe fasting
  • He shifted his practice to a MIddle way which rejected both self-indulgence and self-denial.
  • He revived his failing health by accepting food once more and going into a period of reflection.
  • It is beleived that when Siddhartha found the path to enlightenment, he was tempted by Mara, the personification of evil, to keep his insights to himself
  • You must keep these insights to your self. It is too complex and profound for people to understand.
