  • Espionage and Sedition Acts- These basically gave the state government the ability to ban newspapers and magazines, as well as prosecute certain people, if thhey were talking negatively about their country
  • Effects for US Women
  • Federal Fuel Administration- This law prohibited certain groups of people from being able to use any type of fuel, but this harmed the industry since not many people were buying said fuels
  • Effects for US Immigrants
  • The Red Scare- The Bolshevik revolution in Russia led many americans to believe that immigrants would try to revolt. As a result, production needs lowered drastically, and unemployment rose, which impacted the socialist groups negatively
  • Effects for African-americans
  • The 19th Amendment- This prohibited any US state from denying the right to vote to anyone, including women. This made it so women had much more liberty in that country.
  • Selective Service Act of 1917- Since many americans were sent to war because of this act, many job openings were made available, which helped immigrants have better economic stability
  • The Great Migration- This movement, from 1917 to 1970, involved around 6 million americans moving from the southern states to those with more freedom. This helped them get more rights, as well as better jobs and housing
