  • I can't go out there, I'm too embarrassed.
  • Yay!!!
  • The British aren't having success in the North so they change their strategy and move to the South. So Washington changes their strategy too. General Greene, with help from many guerrillas, made a small militia and tried to tire out the British with mini blitz attacks and succeeded. The British were worn out so they moved to Yorktown to rest.
  • The Americans get help from their allies, the French, and cornered the British in Yorktown. They sent 3,000 troops and 29 warships. Washington led more than 16,000 troops to Yorktown to surround the British. The warships came just in time so the British had no help from the British Navy. You can hear many patriots, like Joseph Martin, fighting for their country. The Americans and French opened fire on the British on October 6, 1781.
  • On October 19, 1781, the American and French troops formed 2 long lines facing each other and waited for the British to walk in between them. Crowds watched as 8,000 British troops walked through. Cornwallis didn't attend because he was "ill" but actually couldn't bear the embarrassment.
