  • The abolishment of feudalism. stop the exploitation of the 3rd estate
  • called for a system based on equal opportunity for all

  • On August 26th, 1789 the National Assembly published the "constitution of rights of man and citizen", written by John Locke.
  • In order to balance the power of the king and the people, they went on to create a constitutional monarchy, this did not sit well with radical revolutionaries.
  • WE DECLARE THE BIRTH OF THE FRENCH REPUBLIC
  • April 1792, France declared war on Austria and Prussia, whom they believed were spreading counterrevolutionary ideas in Europe. This was considered a war of the people.
  • I DIE INNOCENT, AND I FORGIVE ALL OF YOU
  • August 10th, the king was arrested by some radical revolutionaries for some previous crimes and for wanting to crush the New Democratic and legislative assembly.
  • The legislative assembly was disbanded and replaced by the National convention, which immediately declared abolition of the monarchy
  • On january 1793 the king was sentenced to death and killed in the guillotine; 9 months later his wife would face the same fate.
