¡Hey! My name is Raul, and today I am going to explain you how avocado is produced and exported as a product.
It all starts in the avocado´s harvesting fields, which need certain aspects of weather and soil for them to grow. That is why Mexico is the principal exporter of avocado, because of its weather conditions.
However today the principal importer of avocado for Mexico is The United States of America, which represents the 76.8% of the importation of United States from Mexico.
A clear example is the Super Bowl, where the exportation of avocado to the USA is increased drastically. A general quantity that is exported is 100,000 tons of avocado.
A curious fact is that the avocado has been planted in Mexico since 9000 years ago, so it has an important history in our country.
It all started with Mexico exporting very few avocados - and not the United States - throughout the 1980s, when Barnard's company, Mission Produce, based in California, opened the first packing plant in Uruapan.
