#### Storyboard Text

• The Classroom
• y = 1,200(1.08)6
• y = 1904.28
• y = 1,200(1.5869)
• Well. That's a bit too sophisticated for you.
• Let's try something easier. Like y = 3x
• How would we graph this?
• (Continued...)
• It's dealing with smaller numbers as opposed to the equation we just did.
• y = 3x
• Why?
• (Continued...)
• y = 3x
• I'll just watch and learn.
• First thing you want to do is make a chart from -2 to 2. This will make it easier
• Graphing basic exponential functions.
• (Continued...)
• y = 3x
• OH! It's starting to make a lot more sense now.
• X -2 -1 0 1 2
• Y 1/9 1/3 1 3 9
• Original Equation: y = 3x
• (Continued...)
• y = 3x
• I'm definetly going to pass tomorrow!
• X -2 -1 0 1 2
• Y 1/9 1/3 1 3 9
• Make a chart. Rule #1: Anything to the power of 0 is 1. A negative will flip the number into an equation.
• (Continued...)
• y = 3x
• X -2 -1 0 1 2
• Y 1/9 1/3 1 3 9
• The chart demonstrates the points that need to be plotted on the graph.
• Rule to remember: If the exponent is negative, it becomes a fraction and the exponent is later applied.
• There you go! It's ready to be graphed.
• The End!
• I can't thank you enough.
• Don't thank me. I learned it all from Mr.B!
