Storyboard Text

  • Legend had it that "there was a great amount of treasure buried by a pirate named Captain Kidd" This quote shows the importance of imagination because this story was obviously a legend.
  • There was a miserly man named Tom Walker and he had a wife as miserly as himself.
  • One day, Tom takes a shortcut through the swamp and finds a skull. Old Scratch, the devil, says to "let that skull alone". "Walker... was not a man to be troubled with any fears of the kind." This quote shows that emotions and feelings were more important than reason because he wasn't afraid what could happen encountering the devil. The devil offers Tom fortune if he exchanges his soul. Tom declines.
  • Tom tells his wife about how the devil could make him rich and how he declined. However, his wife decides she wants the money for herself and goes looking for him to accept the bargain he offered Tom.
  • Tom goes looking for his wife and all he finds of her is her heart, liver, and her apron in a tree.
  • Then Tom goes and finds the devil and accepts a bargain to become a broker in Boston that cheats people of their money. In return, the devil makes Tom rich.
