Napoleon was exiled and sent to Elba in 1814. But, in 1815, he escaped and went to Paris where he gained supporters and recovered his name as Napoleon I.
In 1815, Napoleon was defeated at the Waterloo Battle. Napoleons army was defeated by the Prussians and British. He was exiled to St. Helena where he died a couple of years later. The Revolution did not really result in permanent democratic rule being established in France, as Napoleon Bonaparte seized the power.
