In 1917 and 1918 the US released the Espionage and Sedition acts. The main things that act did was that it was illegal to use abusive language, and do anything against the US constitution. These two acts were the main effects of the US government.
Effects for US Women
The US industry made massive profits during WW1. The exports to Europe increased almost 4 times as much as before. The benefits for the workers were huge, their wages increased around 7%.
Effects for US Immigrants
The Socialists were strongly against WW1. Ultimately that led to the First Red Scare. That was a promotion of fear towards communism and other things.
Effects for African-Americans
During WW1 since many men had to go fight once the US entered the war, Women needed to fill in those jobs. The positive was that people who didn't want women to hire women for high jobs, needed to change their mind. There was no other option so they did.
During WW1 many Americans were afraid of foreigners immigrating to their country. The main reason was that people thought, maybe the immigrants would support their country at war against the US. And that it would ultimately lead to the US not being what it used to be.
During the war African-Americans were affected very much. Once the war broke out many of them living in the south headed north. Around 500,000 African-Americans were trying to find better living conditions and overall a better life.
