JUSTINIAN'S CODE A GREAT CODE RIP 900 YEARS OLD
•Justinian, looked at his empire and saw that the laws were a mess. Many of the laws contradicted each other, and criminals ended up getting free. The Roman laws were kept in about 1,600 books. Justinian chose ten men and they minimized all laws to 4 books. Those books were The Book of Persons, The Book of Things, The Book of Intestate Succession, and The Book of Obligations Arising From Delicta. He hired various people to write these books.
The code was directed by Tribonian, an official in Justinian's court. Tribonian had a team that was authorized to edit what was in the Justinian code. The code was used in Byzantine for around 35 years. Justinian made it clear that any reference to any other legal systems was forbidden.
The Justinian Code served the Byzantine's for 900 years, from 529 A.D - the 14th century before it ended. It helped keep order and control within the Byzantine empire. It lasted till the end of the Byzantine empire, and probably let the empire last a lot longer.
