Storyboard Text

  • Safety in the Lab!
  • I'm going to mix these two chemicals in the drain
  • That's dangerous! You could clog or damage the sink, or create dangerous fumes.
  • What are you doing?
  • Then what can I dispose of in the sink?
  • Only dispose of water and the solutions designated by our teacher in the sink
  • Then where do I dispose of these chemicals?
  • There are waste containers where you can properly dispose of the chemicals
  • Anything else I can do to avoid setting something up in flames?
  • Make sure you check the label of the waste containers twice so you dispose of the chemicals in the right containers
  • Okay, that's done! Now, where do I dispose of these matches?
  • All insoluble materials should be disposed of in their proper waste container, like the chemicals
  • Rule 13 Dispose of all chemical waste properly. Never mix chemicals in sink drains. Sinks are to be used only for water and those solutions designated by the teacher. Solid chemicals, metals, matches, filter paper, and all other insoluble materials are to be disposed of in the proper waste containers, not in the sink. Check the label of all waste containers twice before adding your chemical waste to the container.
  • The End!
