  • Hello, my name is James.
  • Hi, my name is Angelina.
  • You told me you like to tailor clothes. So why not start a business.
  • Thank you so much!!!
  • New York City, during the Antebellum period: This is James and he just escaped from the south and now lives in New York as a free man. Within four days of living their he meet a woman.
  • Can you shorten the dress its too long?
  • I sure can.
  • This woman name was Angelina Grimke, she was a lady who moved from the south to the north to because she was an abolitionist. She saw James standing on the side walk so she went up to him to get to know him a little better. She wanted to help him.
  • Get on the floor and put your hands up.
  • ma'am what are you doing here?
  • I was get my dress fitted.
  • Angelina decided to give James a shop/housing. So that he can make money and have somewhere to stay. James then began to start his business of tailoring.
  • Kicked out! And had to go back to the south. Sorry Angelina. ~James
  • Oh God no this couldn't have happened.
  • James running business was very successful.
  • One day James was working on a ladies dress, and the New York police busted in his shop and said "there's no such thing as a free slave, your going back where you came from, THE SOUTH"!
  • After all of this had happened Angelina really felt like she needed to speak, and let everyone know that this is not a way to treat people and that slavery needs to come to a stop.
