  • I wouldn't give my self up for my children
  • The novel begins in Grand Isle, were the Pontelliers go to spend Summer. The mother is Edna, the father is Lèonce and the kids are Raoul and Etienne.
  • Here she goes again not caring of her children 
  • When I put him to bed he was fine!
  • One of the kids has fever! 
  • Mr. Pontellier is mad at Edna since she is not being a motherly woman.
  • This feels like freedom!
  • Edna! Get out of the water! You have children to think about!
  • Robert Lebrun, Edna's secret love, teaches her how swim.
  • My house is under reconstruction to maintain my reputation.
  • It doesn't feel like home.
  • Edna moves out of the house she shares with Mr. Pontellier (Léonce) since she doesn't want to live in a place that Léonce has paid for. 
  • This cozy little house feels like home.
  • Edna payed for a pigeon house, which is a block away from the house that she lived in, by selling her sketches.
  • I'm tired!
  • Edna goes into the water naked and starts to swim far into the ocean; then, she decides to drown.
