Storyboard Text

  • Why do we even have to learn Navi? It's basically just another history class!
  • Actually, Rabbi Menachem Leibtag says that nevuah is a message from Hashem to Man and so the Navi actually sends a message to us.
  • But I thought we learned that the Rambam says that nevuuah was for the Navi himself
  • Yes, but he also says that nevuah can be for the people as well
  • So even if the nevuah was for people back then, it's not relevant to us now!
  • RRRRIIIING
  • Well Rashi does say that nevuah was specific to the time
  • So I was right! It isn't relevant to us!
  • Not really. The Gemara in Megillah explains that the nevuot that were written down are for all generations
  • Well in Machzeh Elyon, R' Yitzchak Sender writes that unlike Torah, which is always relevant, sometimes nevuah only pertains to a specific time.
  • Well then how do you explain Rashi?
  • He explains that the nevuah that not all nevuah was written down, but whatever was recorded is relevant for all generations as well.
  • So I guess Navi is actually relevant after all!
  • That's right! You got it! And just in time for Navi class!
