  • After the U.S.S. Maine was blown up,
  • I want Peace
  • The Cubans are in need of help because of Spain is controlling them, their economy, and government, and the U.S. won't help them. So the Cubans try to use Yellow Journalism which is exaggerated reports to get their attention
  • The U.S. want some demands of the Spaniards.
  • After the Cuban's need of help, the The U.S.S Maine was patrolling Manila Harbor, and suddenly boom it blows up, and the American Public blame the Spaniards. The American Public wanted war.
  • After the demands of the Spanish
  • President Mckinley still wanted peace even though he had just read a letter from the ambassador of Spain calling him "weak and bidder for admiration of the Crowd." But yet even though this was happening he still wanted peace.
  • They are compensation of the Maine, end reconcentration camps, truce in Cuba, Cuban independence.
  • the U.S. got a treaty signed with Spain in 1898, about Cuba's independence.
  • In return of the treaty with Spain the U.S. got 20 million dollars, and the United States gained the Guam Pacific island, Philippines and Puerto Rico, and it became unincorporated territories in the U.S.
