  • Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass By: Alexis Webb
  • Exposition: Douglass struggles to free himself, mentally and physically, from slavery.
  • I need my freedom... But it's too stressful!
  • Rising Action: Douglass overhears a conversation between Hugh and Sophia Auld and comes to understand that whites maintain power over black slaves by keeping them uneducated.
  • We have more power then the slaves, since we are book smart
  • I need to educate myself
  • Climax: Douglass decides to fight back against Covey’s brutal beatings. 
  • How do you like it Covey!
  • Falling Action: Douglass starts educating his fellow slaves and planning his escape. Douglass’s plan to escape is discovered.
  • Brothers and Sisters we must educate ourselves or we WILL be defeated
  • We're with you Frederick!
  • Resolution: Douglass bought his freedom from his former master. 
  • Master, I'd like to buy my freedom.
  • How much, Frederick?
