Gideon was a slave that worked for a family of three in Rhodesia. Although he was a slave, he loved his job.

Gideon was really close with son of the family, Teddy. Him and Teddy always played together and he treated Teddy like a son.
Teddy had become really comfortable around Gideon. However, that was causing him to be rude to a little black boy in the neighborhood. One day, while he was riding his new scooter, a snake spit poison into his eyes. That was common in the early 1900's.
My baby is going to be blind!!
Gideon went on a hunt for the medicine that could so called cure the poison.
Where is that medicine??!!
Gideon was able to get the poison out of Teddy's eyes. Mrs. Farquar could not thank him enough. She told everybody in the town. However, a white scientist was trying to get the medicine from Gideon and make money off of it.
I have to get that medicine...
Gideon did not want give up his medicine so a "white man" could claim it for his own and make profit. The Farquars begged and pleaded until Gideon gave in. He guided them down a long trail, but did not give the scientist the real medicine. Although he was upset with the Farquars, he was forgave them and things went back to normal.
