  • The Battle of Brooklyn
  • On August 27, 1776 the British attacked New York in hope to gain control of the Hudson River. The British won this battle.
  • Trenton and Princeton
  • On December 26, 1776 and January 3, 1777, George Washington and his troops made a surprise attack on the British and Hessians. The Continental Army won.
  • The American generals, Gates and Arnold defeated the British in the second battle. The Americans had a home-field advantage.
  • The Battle of Saratoga
  • George Washington's troops were camping and trained at Valley Forge in harsh winter conditions during winter of 1777-1778. 
  • Winter at Valley Forge
  • In Cowpens on 1/17/1781, Morgan ordered the retreating units to face about, and then, on order, fire in unison. The firing damaged the British, who, by that time had sensed victory and had broken ranks in a wild charge. In Guildford Courthouse, the British technically won, as Greene's forces retreated. They lost a lot of people, however.
  • The Southern Campaign
  • The Battle/Siege of Yorktown
  • On 9/28/1781, George Washington took his opportunity and trapped the British army. This was the final battle of the Revolutionary War, and ended the American Revolution. The Americans won.
