Storyboard Text

  • Fear And Paranoia
  • Witches and Prejudices
  • Reputation
  • Mary's only driving force for why she accused people of witchcraft was fear towards Abigail, and fear of punishment for dancing in the woods. When she accuses John of coercing her into overthrowing the court, it's because of fear of being hanged.
  • Fear And Paranoia
  • Abigail accused others of being witches, mainly because she didn't like them. Her accusing Goody Proctor of attacking her with her spirit is because she wants John Proctor.
  • Witches And Prejudices
  • Reverend Parris is very protective over his reputation. He doesn't want any harm to come to his good name, so he helps those who would do so be hanged.
  • Reputation
  • Reverend Parris is a very fearful man. He's afraid of having the town turn against him. This is shown when Abigail accuses an influential person in the town, and he refuses to let her speak about it because it could turn the town against him
  • Mr. Putnam is a very greedy man. He wants to own more land, and be an influential person in the town. He gets his daughter, who's a victim of the bewitching, to testify against those who have land he wants.
  • John Proctor cares a lot about his reputation. When he commits adultery with Abigail, he tries to keep it a secret. This is because he fears that it'll ruin his good name, and cause him to be punished.
