Storyboard Text

  • Please, take some of the pain
  • Put your hands on me
  •
  • When Jonas shows up at the Giver's room, the Giver is in pain. Jonas was gonna leave, but the Giver begs him to take the pain away which he is willingly to do.
  • Water
  • He lays face down on the bed as usual and even guides the Giver to put his hands on his back because of the affliction the Giver is in. Then he is ready to receive the memory.
  • I want to die
  • No!
  • Water
  • Jonas then entered the memory of warfare which brought him astonishing pain. All around him were several men laying on the ground near death, smoke in the area as well. Including the gruesome image of horses dying.
  • Forgive Me
  • His attention then turned to a boy who looked about the same age as him with blood on his shirt and dirt scattered around his face begging for water. He used all his strength with his other arm getting hold of the container because of his serious injury with the other arm.
  • Jonas then poured the water into the boy's mouth only to realize seconds later he stopped moving. Yet all around him were cry's, begs, and death wishes by other men who clearly looked near the edge of death. While the horses were still shrieking of the recent stabs. Jonas couldn't take it any more so opened his eyes.
  • He was then back in the Giver's Annex room. Now realizing what warfare meant and witnessing the worst of mankind. The Giver apologizes to Jonas for transmitting such a awful memory at such an early stage in his training. Sadly he turned away not being able to look at Jonas in the eye with such indescribable pain he has caused the young boy.
