Montano, along with other gentlemen and soldiers watch a storm from afar on the shores of Cyprus and one of them says that the Turks lost most of their fleet in that storm and there is no way that Othello could have survived that. There is a spark of hope as the spot a sail and that ship carries Iago, Roderigo, Desdemona, and Emilia. Othello is to arrive on a different boat. Emilia then starts to talk a lot and Iago harasses Emilia. Iago then makes some trouble by convincing Roderigo to start a fight with Cassio causing him to lose his job.
There is a celebration party for the victory and the nuptial of Othello. Othello puts Iago and Cassio as guards of the party and Iago convinces Cassio to get drunk. Cassio then gets drunk and has a brawl with Montano. Othello runs to the scene and asks who started it, Iago answers that Cassio did it. This ruining Cassio's reputation Iago advises Cassio to seek his job back from Desdemona. This will make it seem as if Cassio and Desdemona are doing something but they really are not.
