Storyboard Text

  • For our lesson today, I'll be explaining the development of the atomic structure. Listen closely and you may write down notes.
  • It all started with an English scientist called John Dalton in the 1800's. His Atomic Theory contained his conclusions on how atoms were made up and their properties.
  • As time went on, new scientists slightly altered Dalton's theory as well as disproving some of his claims.
  • This includes J.J. Thomson, who discovered the electron in 1897 thus disproving Dalton's claim that atoms are indivisible and are made of smaller particles.
