the great math project

Storyboard Text

  • While walking home one day Sam wondered how long it was from the bottom the bridge to the top on the other side.
  • Sam realized early that week he had learnt formulae on how to find missing sides of a Triangle but he didn't have any measurements.
  • He went up to the bridge and walked up and down it for 30 minutes trying to find a rough estimate of the length of the bridge.
  • He estimated the length to be 4 km and the angle to be 40 degrees. He then labeled the sides.
  • H . .
  • A
  • O .
  • He then picked from the three formulae he learnt SOH, CAH and TOA. He new he had O and A so he went with TOA.
  • H . .
  • A . .
  • O .
  • COS(40) = 4/HCOS(40)*H = 4/H*H4/COS(40) = H5.22 = HAfter he found it he was proud of himself.
