  • Hi, Tarquin. Are you well prepared to do some fitness exercises.
  • Hi Marco. Before we start can you give me some information about proteins?
  • Protein is a macronutrient and is made up of small units joined together called Amino Acids.
  • How many Amino acids are there ?
  • There are 20 Amino Acids and the body needs all of them.An Amino acid chain which folds up to make a protein is made up nof about 400 amino acids.
  • What are the functionsof proteins?
  • Their functions are for growth, repair and maintenance of the body. It is also an alternative source of energy and produce enzymes and hormones.
  • Lack of Protein in the body is called Protein Deficiency. This will result in weak muscles, thining hair and growth failure.
  • It is very interesting. Which food is rich in protein?
  • Protein is divided in 2- Animal Protein (HBV) which include meat, chicken, fish, eggs, cheese, milk and yoghurt.
  • And which is the other one?
  • It is Plant protein (LBV) which include nuts, beans, legumes, dried fruits, seeds, bananas and mushrooms.
  • You also need toknow that there are 5 main types of proteins in the body- Structural, Enzymes, Hormones, Receptors and Antibodies.
  • Oh  Thanks , so now I have a better idea which food I need to eat that are rich in proteins and all the important information I needed to know about proteins.
