  • The World Wide Web has been around for almost 70 years. It is a globally distributed network not ruled by one person. Web pages are stored on servers. A URL is an address of a WWW page. For instance, is a URL. The parts of a web address are the URL and http: represents the type of protocol used.

  • A domain name is the base name for a URL, and includes a top-level domain, and a generic TLD, and the country code TLD. Also, copyright is a legal right given to an assignee, who owns the rights. It is not okay to put pictures or videos up from the Web, especially not without permission.
  • Wait, so I can't even put up my favorite songs?
  • Nope, unless the artist gives you direct permission to put up your favorite songs on the website. Facebook's policy allows people to post videos with copyrighted music because they purchased the rights to this.
