The food is then stored in the stomach for up to 6 hours, the walls of the stomach contract and expand churning up the food. The stomach further digests the food mechanically as well as chemically with gastric juices.
The liver processes the nutrients absorbed by the small intestine, and the bile helps break down fats.
Small intestine, is a long tube that coils up, along the walls of the small intestine are thousands of villi that absorb food molecules.
