Harry's boils is getting worse, he tried to go to th Wise Women, but her remedies didn't work.
Harry then decided to see an apothecary. At the time, apothecary's were very expensive, and Hary was afraid he wouldn't have enough money, luckily, he did. Harry hoped that his remedies would help.
The Apothecary treated the boil by rubbing herbs onto the boil, or cutting up a pigeon and rubbing it onto the boil. This was then followed by Harry having to drink vinegar, crushed minerals, arsenic, mercury or even ten-year-old treacle! If Harry had enough money, the Apothecary would be able to take a sample and give it to a physician to assess, but these were rare, as physicians were very expensive, and there were only 100 in the country.
