Storyboard Text

  • EXPOSITION: Penelope has given up hope for Odysseus` return. She propose an archery contest to the suitors after she finds the bow of Odysseus. The prize will be her hand (marriage).
  • Whoever who wins the archery contest,that I am about to propose,will marry me.
  • CONFLICT: Penelope vs self is a conflict where she has to stay faithful to Odysseus even while facing the greed of the suitorsand her own loneliness.
  • No one is able to string the bow.
  • RISING ACTION: Odysseus follows Eumaeus and Philoetius outside. He assures himself of their loyalty and then reveals his identity to them by means of the scar on his foot. He promises to treat them as Telemachus’s brothers if they fight by his side against the suitors.
  • Eumaeous, Philoetus, I am Odysseus. You must believe me because of my "old scar". I need my bow back. Philoetus hide the women in their rooms and lock the door.
  • RISING ACTION: The suitors look down on Odysseus because he is a beggar and don`t want to even give him a chance to try.
  • HAHAHA,  A bow lover! Dealer in old bows!
  • Uhmm...

  • CLIMAX: Odysseus string the bow easily, the mens get in shock and Zeus thunders.
  • WHAT?
  • FALLING ACTION: Odysseus stood in glory after completing Penelope`s challenge. RESOLUTION: Odysseus then commends Telemachus for accepting a beggar into his house.
  • Telemachus, the stranger you welcomed in your hall has not disgraced you. I did not miss, neither did I take all day stringing the bow.
