The black dot is shown as symbolism because the black dot means the selection. Nobody wants to be in the selection so they hope that the luck is on their side.
Tone and Theme
This is the use of imagery because it shows how the summer day felt like and it explains the look as well. This is from the line.. "Clear and Sunny with fresh warmth of a summer's day."
Ha..HA.. (it's not that funny)
This is a showing of imagery because the "Black box grew" it shows casually personification to show it's more announced.
I dang-gon forgot that it was today! Hahaha..
HE DIDN'T GET ENOUGH TIME! YOU ALL SAW THAT!
The theme of this writing is... "Winning comes with consequences." This is because as the name the lottery suggests, you win a prize but due to the normality being that you win a good prize the reader misunderstood and thought it would be good but they didn't understand the cost of winning, which in this case was being stoned to death if you won.
I chose to do a figure of speech because I was able to find a lot of them in the text, but also I enjoy seeing the types of ways it could be taken. I used the personification... "Soft laughter ran through the crowd."
For my juxtaposition, I want to use the two personalities Tessie shows, at first she is very loveable and laughs everything off when she is late etc. As you get deeper into the story you can see Tessie becoming irrational compared to what she originally showed.
