Meet the Wilsons. Mark-37, Jamie-35, Alexander-6, Emily-4, and Mia-18 months.
Mark is a salesman, and Jamie is a stay-at-home mom. Mark enjoys watching football (on TV and his son) and Jamie enjoys cooking and making necklaces to sell on Etsy.
Alexander loves playing football on his town recreation team. Both girls enjoy taking ballet classes.
One day, a category 5 tornado enters their hometown, Topeka Kansas. The Wilsons live in a one-story house, and it gets demolished.
While protecting the children from debris, a light fixture fell onto his leg and broke it. After the storm passed, he was taken to the hospital. The rest of the family came out with only minor cuts and bruises.
While at the hospital, Jamie began to realize that her family needed major financial help in order to pay for the damages to their home, as well as medical bills. She came across FEMA, and realized it was a good fit.
