- yeah but did you hear that Jeremy got taken prisoner, he'll surely be dead.
- More than 50,000 men died in the prison camp. It was filthy and hot and men had to sleep with the vermin. and after all the torture of staying in such they die mostly from disentery and some don't even have clothes on their backs when they die

- Food a the camps were not very good. For the Union soldiers they were given beans, bacon pickled beef, veggies, and cake that can turn into soup with water, but the worst one is the bullet stopping biscuit. and sometime will come down the throat easier dipped in coffee. Southern soldiers ate slooth, a cornmeal swirled with bacon grease, beef and peas.
- Mean while at the camp John a soldier was hungry an wanted good considering he's from a rich family but the food is not good and not alot of
- But that's not enough for anyone not even you.
- this is what you get. stop complaining about it and eat or there be no food left for the day.
- Then John went out to the medicine area where he could fix his wounds from battle but its a pain to get better
- The medicine at the camps were very low and not a lot do to help the soldiers, they didn't even have anesthesia to do surgery so they felt being open and getting fixed. Most people were dying because of diseases like today's common cold but at that times plague and most of the soldiers were just not getting better because lack of food, and exposure and some even killed themselves because they didn't want to go through such agony
- I need to fix my stomach wound from a gunshot but it's so painful to take it out and I don't want to die from the pain Like Jebidiah.
- Only a faction of a soldiers time is spent on front line combat so they spent most of their time at the bad camp. A lot of soldiers had a lot of time on their hands but they some drills, listening to music and playing cards. But Soldiers lack the hygiene or lack taking care of themselves and that causes disease and they bed have bed lice and the soldiers live in a dog tent.
- After John got patched up he went back to camp and waited to go on to battle again.
- Now I just need to wait to get some action now, but I can't really stay here it's disgusting.
- Battles were usually short, when they did the cannons and gun fire the whole battle field was covered in smoke and couldn't see a thing later. Union soldiers would say hurrah!!!!!!!! when they would attack the confederate soldiers. After having the battle the soldiers would find reasons to hate the other side because before it was just soldiers fighting and now their hating each other.
