Storyboard Text

  • "Guilty ... guilty ... guilty ... guilty"
  • "Miss Jean Louise, stand up. Your father's passin'." 
  • "It ain't right, Atticus,"
  • "No son, it's not right."
  • Judge Taylor reads the jury's verdict which is guilty.
  • "Tom Robinson's daddy sent you along this chicken this morning. I fixed it."
  • " I was reluctant to take my eyes from the people below us, and from the image of Atticus's lonely walk down the aisle... I looked around. They were standing. All around us and in the balcony on the opposite wall, the Negroes were getting to their feet." (Lee 283).
  • "Well I'm gonna be a new kind clown. I'm gonna stand in the middle of the ring and laugh at folks."
  • "It was Jem's turn to cry. His face was streaked with angry tears as we made our way through the cheerful crowd. "It ain't right," he muttered all the way to the corner of the square..." (Lee 284).
  • "Ain't you heard yet? It's all over town-"
  • After the trial many of the African American people in the town gave the Finches food to thank Atticus for doing the best he could in defending Tom.
  • Scout, Jem, and Dill just finished eating cake at Miss Maudie's house when they see  Miss Rachel, Mr Avery, and Miss Stephanie outside of his house.  They walk over to see what happened. 
  • "It was Miss Stephanie's pleasure to tell us: this morning Mr. Bob Ewell stopped Atticus on the post office corner, spat in his face, and told him he'd get him if it took the rest of his life" (Lee 290).
