Annemarie's Uncle Henrik loads the first set of people escaping to Sweden into his boat while Mrs. Johansen and the Rosens follow after him.
Here, let me lean on you. I think if you support me on this side, I can make my way up to the house
it may all have been for nothing . .
Mrs. Johansen then makes her way back to the house, anxious to get back to Annemarie and Kirsti. As she runs back she accidentally trips over a root and goes sprawling through the grass.
I will take it.
Annemarie waited at the house for her mama, worried on why she was taking so long. As she looked out the window she saw a shape moving in the grass. She then realized it was her mama, and quietly ran to her trying not to wake kirsti.
Mrs. Johansen explains to Annemarie that she had tripped on her way back, and asks her if she could help her get back to the house .
On the way back to the house, Annemarie notices the package that was very “important” to her uncle Henrik laying in the grass near the steps. Mrs. Johansen freezes and is in shock that their plan may now be ruined, but Annemarie offers to help by running the package to her Uncle.
Mrs. Johansen tells Annemarie to grab the basket that was in the kitchen and to hide the package at the bottom covered with a napkin, an apple, and cheese. This way if Annemarie was ever stopped, they wouldn’t suspect or find anything. Annemarie kisses her mother, and quickly runs along the path to return the package to her uncle.
