  • an effort to preserve the Balance of the power of Congress between slave states and free states, the Missouri Compromise was passed in 1820 admitting Missouri as slave and Maine as a slave state. 
  • part of Henry clay famed Compromise of 1850 a group of bills that helped quiet for early calls southern session this new law forcibly  compelled citzens to assist in the capture of runaway slaves
  • KANSAS and Nebraska was passed by the U.S Congress on may 30, 1854. it allowed people in the terriotorys of Kansas  and Nebraska  to decide for themselves whether or not to  allow Slavery in their boarders known as,, popular sovereignty.
