Storyboard Description

Theodesias learned that extreme narcissism is a very bad trait and that most people do not like narcissists. He also learned to not have too high of standards and to not rely on only your looks for people to like you, or else bad consequences will follow.

Storyboard Text

  • Hamartia
  • We love you Theodesias!
  • I am Theodesias, the most charming prince in town!
  • Hubris
  • Will you marry me, Ophira?
  • No.
  • Anagnorisis
  • Theodesias was the most handsome, charming, popular prince in all of the town of Delphus. He was also the most narcissistic; he thought very highly of himself. The rule in Delphus was that if you were not married by age 18, you were to be killed. Theodesias was age 17, and his birthday was in a week. Theodesias could not find a girl that he thought was beautiful enough for him.
  • Peripeteia
  • Finally, he met a girl he liked. Theodesias decided to ask the most beautiful girl, Ophira, in town to marry him. He was almost positive she would say yes, since he was so handsome and popular. Ophira knew how narcissistic Theodesias was, since he made it pretty obvious. She declined his marriage proposal.
  • Nemesis
  • Theodesias panicked. The only girl in town that met his standards was Ophira. He realized maybe not everyone loved him as much as he loved himself. He decided if he couldn't have Ophira, he just wouldn't marry at all. He did not want to marry someone who he did not think was good enough for him.
  • Catharsis
  • When his 18th birthday rolled around, Theodesias accepted his fate. The townspeople approached him, but did not kill him. They decided it would be a worse punishment to make him ugly, since he loved himself so much. They disfigured his face and made him ugly; they knew he would be more hurt by having to live with an ugly face than having to die.
  • Theodesias immediately ran to check his face. When he saw how ugly he was, he began to cry. Theodesias knew that nobody would ever like him again if he was ugly. His only good personality trait was his face. If he didn't have that, he had nothing.
  • My beautiful face is gone!
  • Theodesias decided to lock himself away in the castle forever. He knew he had nothing left if he didn't have his looks. People no longer liked him because his face was his only good quality. As a result, he decided to just not interact with anyone. Eventually, the isolation and loneliness drove him insane and he killed himself.
