"You are crushed by seven years of misery. Leave it behind you. Start in the wilderness or across the sea."
Hester Prynne and Dimmesdale unintentionally meet at the forest.
Hester Prynne starts to cry and begs for forgiveness. She tells Dimmesdale that Roger Chillingworth was her husband. Dimmesdale ends up forgiving Hester.
Hester and Dimmesdale then end up talking about how he is in misery and how he should leave it behind by going somewhere else. Dimmesdale says that he'll go alone, but Hester says he shouldn't go by himself.
