Many new machines were invented for production in the factories. These machine cost a lot of money and often very dangerous as there was no safety precaution . The problem was that the owner didn't consider at all of any of his workers got injured, his concern went to the delayment for the production process. Accident were a common place and many people lost fingers, hand or any part of their body with no compensation.
Today we are reasonably treated fairly at work but this was not the case back in the 19th century factories. They didn't care if you got hurt or not, their only concern was that everything should be done fast and efficiently. Often young children would be beaten to keep them awake and all worker would be fined if they slowed down while working and they could be sacked immediately with no explanation.
Oh, I can't BREATH!
Many children from the age of 6 were employed because they could be paid a little amount for the long hours they worked. With the minimal payment they got thats all they can help their families with.
THIS IS ALL I GOT, HOW AM I GOING TO SURVIVE!
The food for children were very limited . The owner of the factory would deny giving children more food and send them back to work.
Sir; May I please have more food, I am feeling hungry
Some facoties were so noisy that young children went deaf, there were rarely heated in winter or ventilated during the summer, steam and gases often made the air unbearable and there was no protection against dangerous chemicals or gases plus the owner was not liable for any injuries.
