Secretly, Jefferson sent Lewis and Clark to explore the new land. Lewis and Clark kept journals describing their trip and notes about what they saw. They met Sacajawea, a Native American woman who joined and helped guide them on their journey.
Jefferson decided to pass a law that nearly destroyed the economy. The law prohibited American ships from trading in all foreign ports. He did this so that the French and British would stop attacking their ships. Jefferson had good intentions when he created this law, but it hurt him and his nation instead.
Jefferson's presidency ended on March 4, 1809. The End!
