Storyboard Text

  • I'm Matilda but I also go by Mattie.
  • Expositon: Matilda, Mother, Grandfather, and Eliza all ran the Cook Coffee House in Philadelphia, 1793
  • I'm Eliza.
  • I'm Lucille, Matilda's Mother.
  • I'm Captain Williams, Matilda's Grandfather.
  • Rising action: Mother fell ill of the Yellow fever and did not want Mattie anywhere near the disease. She decided to send Mattie and Grandfather to the countryside to get away from the fever.
  • Please don't die mother! I don't want to leave her! Don't send me away!
  • Rising action: On their journey Mattie catches the Yellow Fever and they have to go to Bush Hill,to get her treated. She gets better, and Mattie and Grandfather went back to the coffee house for shelter.
  • Then we are going back to the coffee house.
  • I'm still sick, but I am feeling better.
  • Quote: "My sheets and shift were soaked through with sweat, blood, and the foul-smelling black substance that marked a victim of yellow fever"
  • Climax: The coffee house got broken into and in the process of getting the robbers out , Grandfather got hurt. He said his goodbyes Mattie and died. She was left all alone.
  • No grandfather! Don't leave me!
  • Quote: Don't die grandfather. Please don't die. Please, please. Oh dear god, please don't die.
  • Falling Action: Mattie decided to find help and found Eliza. She also found a a little girl named Nell and took care of her. Nell and Mattie moved in with Eliza, her brother, and her sons. Mattie and Eliza both helped with the sick for the Free African Society. Mattie also found out that her mother went to the countryside, but did not want to know if she was alive or dead.
  • Quote:I should've done something,chased the intruders out, or better yet, not been such a baby and left the shutters open just because I was out."
  • Mother I'm so glad to see you I've missed you so much!
  • Resolution: The Yellow Fever started to die down once it started to get more cooler , so Eliza and Mattie opened the coffee house again, Mother returned to Philadelphia and found Mattie safe and sound.
  • Matilda I'm so glad you're ok I was so worried!
