What is causing Mr.Earth and Mr.CheesePlanet to not be able to beat one another in a game of tug-of-war? The force of gravity of course! Gravity is a force found everywhere in the Universe allowing planets to stay in orbit around the center of it. The center of gravity is found at the core of the planets. It keeps the planets round and allows people to stay on the Earth's surface at a constant 9.8m/s onto the surface. Without gravity people would simply float around until they collided with an object.

Why do cars slow down when the brakes are hit. A car has a break system to take advantage of the force friction. The brakes apply force to the wheel(s) which then lose rolling friction, therefore slowing down. Friction comes in many forms such as, rolling friction, sliding friction, static friction, and air friction. Friction acts upon a force applied to an object allowing it to be able to have a resting state. The more mass an object has the more friction acts upon it when pushed or applied force from resting position.

Elastic force is the force used to describe any object with elasticity when pulled by another force. For example: a rubber band could be pulled or stretched by a human and when let go will release all energy built up and return to its original state although slightly altered.

Magnets work in a very specific way. The south pole of a magnet is attracted the north pole, unlike poles are attracted. Magnets can either attract or repel another magnet or ferromagnetic substance such as iron. These properties have been useful for many gadgets such as the compass because of the ability for the north pole of the magnet to point magnetic north.

More specifically... Static friction is what an object has when a force pushes or pulls an object from its resting state. If somebody tried to move a giant cinder block out of the way by pushing it, much static friction would have been applied to the cinder block acting against the friction; making it difficult to move around. The static friction created between the floor and the object being pushed which instantly turns to heat.

In conclusion, the main forces help with daily life, allowing people to not float into an abyss and give them funny things to stick to their magnetic refrigerator. But what would the Earth look like WITHOUT force.
