  • "He's just ready for burning!"
  • Charles Bay, MA -- In 1727, a great amount of treasure was been discovered in a dreary swamp; however, non of the adventurers came back with what they wished. As a result, the mystery treasure was guarded with the gigantic trees, bizarre creatures, and deserted wild.
  • Tom Walker, a greedy man, was living a miserable life with his wife. Their poverty and bitterness trapped the couple in incurable dissension. Tom's combative personality aroused him to seek the wallet of "Old Scratch," the devil. He was not afraid of the devil. This pride led him to start his journey.
  • "The devil takes me if I have made a farthing! "
  • "One more day, please! "
  • The Bible
  • Tom's ambition was expressed while he was dealing with the devil in their usurious plan. The devil offered him hidden treasure by the Pirate. For exchange, Tom sold his soul to the devil.
  • Tom was astonished by the wealth; however, the treasure could be only used for Old Scratch's business. As he attained the wealth, he then became a usurer in Boston. He started his business with town workers, merchants, and speculators during the country's depression.
  • Tom's conscience attempted to pull him back from the brink of moral bankruptcy. He felt anxious, went to church for confession, and carried The Bible. One day, while a speculator appealing him to extend the loan tenure, the Devil was waiting at outside, ready to get him.
  • Beyond all doubt, Tom's regrets brought himself to the end of his life. With the devil's loud knock on the door, he had no way back. The devil threw him back and forth in the air; eventually, Tom disappeared in lightning. People never saw him again.
