  • The People in the 3rd estate mainly consisted of peasants, city workers, and the bourgeoisie. They liked the idea  that everyone should deserve equal rights and they were angry that they only had very few  
  • In the 1780s, France was deeply in depth, and needed money. 
  • Louis tried taking nobles , but instead they forced the king into calling a meeting of delegates of the tree estates to decide tax issues 
  • the king and the other delegates did not agree with the plan.
  • The meeting began in may of 1789 with arguments over how to count up the votes. The top two estates always voted together and got their way. The third estate however had as many delegates as the other two combined. They wanted each delegate to have a vote.
  • I dont agree!
  • On July 14, an angry crowd Captured the Bastille. The mob wanted to get gun powder for their weapons in order to defend their city. Peasants broke in a burned nobles houses  and tore up documents that forced them to pay fees
  •  changes then started to happen in France. One law ended special privileges, gave all french men equal rights. Other laws cut the power of the catholic church, not all women got equal rights and the government took over church lands, hope to sell them and raise money.
