  • There a lived a widowed woman who lived in a cottage on the edge of a forest with her two daughters. They led a simple life. However the widow's main possession is a noble cock called Chaunticleer.
  • Falling Action
  • One day, Chaunticleer had a nightmare where he was being chased by a doglike beast who wanted to catch and kill him. One of his wives Lady Pertelote had lost her love for him because he was being a coward. In addition he has another dream about two comrades and one dying on their pilgrimage.
  • Falling Action
  • Chaunticleer was approached by a fox, and was manipulated by him to sing for him. However the fox captured him and ran. The widow and her two daughters had chased after him. Then everyone started to run after him
  • Resolution
  • Chaunticleer was very wise when he tricked the fox into talking, he was able to fly away and get into a safe, high tree top spot.
  • The Fox tried saying to Chaunticller that he had meant no harm to him, trying to get him back down. But chanticleer had told him that he was not falling for his flattery again. Keeping his eyes open.
  • From this story, morality is taught with the fox and the cock Chaunticleer. This happens when you are not careful, and listen to flatterers.
